​With careful application, a stamped concrete patio will look more like stone than plain concrete. Stamped concrete is initially poured much like standard concrete, though with some added color to the base concrete. The beauty of this cement application really comes through in the finishing touches. Before the concrete fully cures, a powder or liquid “release” is applied to the surface and a stamp is pressed down onto the concrete. This imparts an appearance of depth, color, and texture to what would be otherwise a plain surface. 

In contrast, pavers are much more of a full system or process that allows you to customize the pattern of the hardscape. Starting with a similar base layer to the one we use in installing artificial turf, we then apply a layer of sand. The sand provides a surface in which to set in the pavers, which are applied in your chosen pattern to make paths and sitting areas in your outdoor spaces. The pieces are locked into place and polymer sand is brushed into the joints, creating an end result that is highly resistant to cracking or lifting.

As an addition to a patio, interlocking concrete pavers and stamped concrete can add a level of visual interest to your yard.
